SimFer Port Project at Simandou Achieves Milestone Progress in Wharf Construction
来源: 时间: 2025-09-24
Recently, with the completion of the final rock-socketed pile, the pile foundation construction for the wharf berths of the SimFer Port Project at Simandou—jointly invested in by Chinalco Iron Ore and its partners—has been successfully completed. This marks a significant milestone in the wharf construction phase of the SimFer Port Project.

The port, operated under SimFer—a joint venture between Chinalco Group and Rio Tinto—is a critical component of the supporting infrastructure for the Simandou project. The construction of rock-socketed piles at SimFer Port represents a key engineering challenge in wharf berth construction. Since commencing work on January 23, 2025, the project team has overcome numerous adverse conditions—including complex hydrogeological environments, construction during the tropical rainy season, and prolonged material transportation cycles—through scientific planning, meticulous management, and strict quality control. Over the course of 229 days, they successfully completed the installation of 419 rock-socketed piles, ensuring the timely completion of this critical sub-project.

Additionally, the heavy fuel oil power station infrastructure at SimFer Port has recently passed acceptance inspections. The successful completion of multiple sub-projects—including the wharf berth pile foundations and the heavy fuel oil power station infrastructure—signifies that the SimFer Port Project has taken solid, decisive steps forward.
