Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for Chinalco Group’s Guinea-Bissau bauxite exploration project was held in the village of Saxá, in the Bafatá region of Gabú Province, Guinea-Bissau.

Attending the event were Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Yang Renhuo, representatives and project team members from Chinalco Group, Minister of Natural Resources of Guinea-Bissau Malam Sambu, officials from the Prime Minister's Office and the Gabú Provincial Government, as well as representatives from local communities.

Chinalco Group’s Guinea-Bissau bauxite exploration project is a significant move aimed at implementing the important consensus reached during the 2024 meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló. The successful commencement of this project will further enrich the connotation of the China-Guinea-Bissau strategic partnership, contribute to improving the lives of local residents, and promote social and economic development in Guinea-Bissau.
