Aurukun Aborigines Community Delegation of Australia paid a visit to our Guangxi branch from June 13th to 14th. They admired the efforts made by the enterprise in promoting the rapid economic development in the region.
The Delegation went to the reclamation area in the mine in the morning. They were excited to see the vast stretch of green fields planted with diversified vegetables and fruits, and asked me (the writer) to take photos for them. The visitors were also excited to know that the vegetables could be picked up on the spot, and wasted no time to try for themselves. And the person in charge of the mine area gave an introduction to the work the company has done for the reclamation.
After that, they toured the 3rd-pahse expansion site of the refinery, the casthouse, the sewage treatment station and the red mud dam. The modern management and the environment-friendly working conditions of CHALCO Guangxi Branch impressed the Delegation greatly.
A meeting was held 14:30 pm in the Multi-Function Parlor, Pingguo Hotel. The visitors and the staff representatives of minority nationalities talked about the enterprise¡¯s role in developing local economy, the distribution of minority nationals in the region, daily used languages and dialects, the ratio of minority nationality staff in the company, the employment of local residents by the company, and other topics.
The Delegation also held a meeting in the Pingguo County, learning more about the changes brought by the enterprise to the local economy and employment.
The successful visit will promote CHALCO¡¯s Aurukun Bauxite Project in Australia, help the local Aborigines to gain a better understanding of CHALCO, and win more support from them for the Project.
